i've taken high dose of prozac, 120mg seems to be the best antidepressant dose but it's above the medical maximum which is 80. Side effects are none, antidepressant effect moderatly potentiated but i can't take this dose without a doctor's approval. And ... 120 of prozac is not really an option with my doctor. I'll have to take 5htp, or b6 anything to increase nuerotransmitter synthesis

i think the nuerotransmitters adapted to 80, and produced equalized amount. When i first started 80, i noticed a difference. But the nuerotransmitters really get on nerves when they adapt too where it's hard to tell the antidepressant feeling. 120 defeitnly increased antidpressant effect, but as I said, cannot do it without doctor's approval and no is awnser for me. But even if i moved to 120, adapting could happen.

took 80 this morning, then took b6 and noticed serotonin slightly increased. pro usally makes me in happy mood, i get up depressed in the morning, then i take pro and it gets me back to normal, sometimes slightly happy. I've thought about going on Marplan, my doctor said we could try it. I'm staying with pro....it does work i just have to replenish serotonin and norephinprine. It hits NE also at high dose

antidepressant induced happiness....vs natural happiness. Antidepressant happiness is from increase in serotonin. It doesnt really naturally increase serotonin. Pro is serotonin increase. I wake up terribly depressed, i do. I take it, and it induces serotonin increase. So it's artifical happiness, not natural.

Hi RJ:
I used to take Prozac, for a few years. I got up to 120mg, and yeah, it did numb me. 80mg was my sweet spot. I actually took it before bed, with Topimax. IT both could be sedating, and stimulating. I sometimes would it in the morning, after only being awake 4 hours (and I had taken a wild 300mg of Seroquel, and it made me feel hungover that morning. So I popped 4 caps of Prozac, and bingo...I was awake, glossy eyed!
But, careful of adding things like other things that stimulate serotonin...such as 5HTP, tryptophan, other serotonin meds..at that high dosage.
Best wishes,
Jay :)

I usally take lamictal with prozac, i take 80 in the morning, then 200mg of lamictal then another during afternoon. My doctor doenst really....work in fact to explore other options. I'm just left on the same meds, need to get another doctor. I've thought about firing her
80 is my grounded dose. 5-HTP in low doses does not effect prozac, there is no serotonin syndrome, but 100+ would be. I don't really mess around with supplements, i have in the past. L-methyfolate i've taken and seen a small improvement.
