I am trying Tumeric, which is supposed to have mild MAOI A and B qualities. I read of some studies that found using it with another antidepressant is best. I have never had a problem with high blood-pressure, in fact have had low blood pressure due much to my meds. MAOI's, with tyramine foods is sometimes supposed to spike blood pressure.
My BP right now is fine. (I have been on Tumeric for 5 days.) I take it with COQ10..another energizer. I have not been manic, just a better/quicker thought and response time. It feels like more of my brain is 'lit up'...man I feel great in social situations, like I can hold a conversation. Knock on wood, I HOPE this keeps up. The studies say it does. Any users of this...any thoughts??

Tumeric's MAO inhibitory properties are pretty mild. You might be benefitting from tumeric's anti-inflammatory properties. There's a lot of research on relationship between inflammation and mental illness.
The Longvida brand is supposed to be most capable at crossing the blood brain barrier.

> The Longvida brand is supposed to be most capable at crossing the blood brain barrier. The brand I bought, I can't remember right now, (it is way downstairs in my kitchen..I am lazy to get out of bed.lol) but it was pricey, and it did say on the bottle that is was able to cross the blood-brain barrier. I definitely think I have triggered a bit of it's MAOI properties, because when I have taken it later in the evening, I have trouble sleeping, and I feel a bit 'jazzed'. But the anti-inflammatory properties are awesome for me, because I very, very often get swollen muscles in neck, swollen throat glands, tension headaches, tense hand, arm, leg muscles...and on and on. Especially during bad depressive episodes. I have to eat half a bottle of Ibuprofen just to walk! I was told I likely have Fibro by a nurse friend of mine. So. yeah, I think it is the combination. Knock on wood..lol.
