Good news on Nardil availability (Prostate Cancer)

Posted by PeterMartin on November 24, 2020, at 8:53:49

Nardil seems to be effective as a treatment for certain types of prostate cancer.

It made the news this week (daily mail): https://www.dailymail.co.uk/health/article-8979007/A-depression-pill-70-years-ago-used-treat-prostate-cancer-research-suggests.html

The best news w/ this, from a psychobabble perspective, is that if it's "repurposed" for prostate cancer it almost certainly will continue to be manufactured. Availability issues have plagued Nardil lately so this is good news for those taking it imho.

But what about the side effects that make some psychiatrists too afraid to prescribe Nardil? Will oncologists overlook the side effects because prostate cancer can be deadly? But wait, depression can be deadly too. So why do some psychiatrists refuse to prescribe Nardil? Let's see how this goes!
