I researched, 300mg at night is for major depressive disorder (high dose for it). I take 600 at night, and notice more mood stablization, some antipsychotic effect. But 300mg, seems to be beneficual to mood, 400mg is more mood stablization, higher is antipsychoic properties.

i don't understand sometimes, i take a 300mg tablet at night, sometimes when im in a depressed mood, it will help out, but most of the time when i take i want to pass out, or ready for sleep. I take 600.
It's approved for major depressive disorder, but this stuff, goodness if i took it during the day would be irrtible, and impaired trying to keep awake. There are people who take Seroquel XR for depression, and it works fine.
but it's a good medication to get you to sleep, within 2-4 hours your ready for sleep.
Not sure how it effects other people, but this is a sleep med

I would think it is like any other tranquilizer..
Aim for the lowest effective dose. Too much, end up with drug induced deficits that are disabling, all by themselves.
