i never thought that but after reading medical journals, they say fluoxetine is the best, and safest one to use in bipolar cases. Which i know there's tons of TCAs and others they use. Everytime i google fluoxetine, it says used for bipolar treatment depression. The only thing, fluoxetine can cause mania, very well, i've had hypomania on prozac in earlier years, i was in such a good mood it changed my personality. Then after years it kinda faded, but if i dont take it, big major depression for days or weeks, severe depression.

when i was on a psych, many bipolar friends were on prozac and mood stablizers, same thing with me, lamotragine 400mg. My case to explain is too long, but i just stuck with bipolar medication because they reduce the hell mood rages, or deep depression, frequent mood changes

it's a good antidepressant, i think the reason people ditch prozac, is because it is 'the' longest medication to start working, it takes at least 6 weeks to start noticing improvement, lots of people just ditch it and move to another. I first started taking it in summer of 05, took 6-7 weeks, then i started notcing a warm feeling, not like exctacy, but just a warm feeling, on it's actions on serotonin. Then moved to 40mg, noticed big mood improvement, then 80. 80 is the best, max dose but im staying on it.
But, like i said everytime i search engine fluoxetine, it says depression and also treatment for bipolar cases. There's lots of articles that say bipolar patients, should not use a anti-depressant, it said prozac is the safest, most effective excluding the others.
