i tried this out for stress, usually i take l-tyrosine for stress and motivation, but i tried rhodiola out, they say it has depression lifting symptoms, and stress management. First it acts on noradrenaline system, i noticed that, i took some and i noticed more alertness, and a bit of irritability. I don't know what the exact mechanism is but it adapts the noradrenaline systems during stress, it work on serotonin a bit, but does not hit dopamine.
It improves your performance in psyhcial tasks, incudling excerise, and handling stress. No dopamine i've seen involved, mainly adrenaline and norepinephrine is what it works on, and some serotonin. If you take too much, it will make irritable, i took 100mg and was fine then took another then i was more alert and increased performance but there was irritability involved. It's good for a good "pick me upper" to do tasks, but it does not work on dopamine systems. It's mainly stress chemicals like cortisol and noradrenaline systems

I've tried it, many years ago. I don't remember if I got any noticeable effect.

I used to like the effect but now I don't. Different brand or dose?

not sure, but it said take 1, and it did, i was a bit more active, but it also said higher doses are sedating, it makes me kinda alert, but it works on noradrenaline systems, and cortisol, stress chemicals, so that you handle stress easier. I looked online it said it did work on dopamine, but im telling you it doesn't. It's noradrenaline-serotonin systems. That's why its anti-depressant properties, and improved energy. But gives irritability at times

The last time I took it I couldn't wait for it to wear off.
As you say the effect is dose related.

yes, it makes you irrtible, like a caffeine tension, i think lower doses are the only good thing. It increases noradrenaline systems, and cortisol. Stress chemicals, that why i guess it can be unpleasant, but it said on the label it's made to help stressful levels and gives more stress chemical release, to help. Some people do well, its a good pick me upper, but it definitely has irritable effects, noradrenaline system dysphoria, and combination of other things. Google the mechanism of action of rhodiola, it's complicated but its main purpose is for stress and low energy depression
