Has anyone had the experience of one of the maois working again, after a sufficient amount of time has elapsed after it has pooped out on you?

That was a strategy used many years ago. I think 3 months was the amount of time chosen to remain drug-free. (One of my doctors found it necessary to alternate between Parnate and Nardil with one of his patients).

If you try this, you might consider adding lithium, Lamictal, or Abilify to the MAOI in order to help stabilize or extend an antidepressant response. Perhaps others will offer more suggestions for what to use as an adjunct.

Thanks SLS. I dont think I could remain drug free for that long. I seem to be in a permanent state of clinical depression. It was suggested to me by a psychiatrist here in uk to try going back on to nardil after 5 yrs on parnate, but it sounds risky to me, especially as I suffered a lot augmenting the nardil in the past. I seem to have a much harder time than most of you with these drugs. Im unable to function without them and only maois have ever worked.
