Just a heads up that "Sonosi" (Jazz pharma's solriamfetol) just received it's class scheduling (IV) and will be available in early July. I bet it'll be extremely expensive but hopefully there'll be samples to try. I'd love to hear from anyone who gives it a go. It's only currently approved for narcolepsy but it's being tried for other conditions.
"Sunosi, a first-in-class dual-acting dopamine and norepinephrine reuptake inhibitor (DNRI), was approved in March 2019 to improve wakefulness in adult patients with excessive daytime sleepiness "
"Sunosi is expected to be available in 75mg (functionally scored) and 150mg tablets in early July. "

that sounds intresting because it's the first since wellbutrin, there used to be DNRI's back in the 60s, like preludin, i think. The only other DRNI is Prolintane, it was used in the 50s and down. But it's not very potent. It just gives you bump up. Not a psychostimulant
this is gonna be intresting when it hits the pharma market

There is a big difference between Preludin and prolintane.

The best example of a DNRI antidepressant I know of is nomifensine (Merital). It was available briefly in the 1980s, and helped a great many people. Nomifensine was withdrawn worldwide by the manufacturer (Hoechst-Roussel) when a few cases of hemolytic anemia were reported in Europe. I responded to it briefly in a way similar to the way I respond to tricyclics. Some very desperate people were forced to give up the only antidepressant that ever worked for them.

Amineptine was generally described as being selective for dopamine.

phendimetrazine (Bontril, etc.) is still available. I don't know how popular it is. I find it strange...adderall, etc. are seen as "medicines," but diet pills are still stigmatized. Anyway...
its Schedule III, so refills are technically a possibility. Some of it...30%, I think...is metabolized to phenmetrazine, but since its a pro-drug and I think its usually prescribed in the SR capsule form, the abuse potential is much lower than Preludin.
and now you know. :-)

Am I right in thinking that the only other "wakefulness promoting agent" out there is Pro/Nuvigil?
I respond briefly and intermittently to those, which is actually a big deal for me since I'm so treatment resistant. Having another arrow in that quiver (or whatever the saying is) would be great. I really hope it gets approved for MDD or anxiety.
