I dont want to be manic, i just want to sit in an airplane without fearing death. Lorazepam isnt good because addiction risk and amnesia. I need at least 3mg Lorazepam if not 4 to relax me enough.

wow. maybe valium or serax? its...strange, i guess...some people do better with the more sedating, lower potency benzodiazepines. they also i think have more pronounced muscle relaxant (spelling?) properties, so...maybe that would be helpful?
obviously, try to make sure that the doctor who prescribes something to help you get on the airplane knows what else you're taking.
good luck. :-)

Aloradine would be sweet for this. One puff of the nasal spray every hour. I wish it would come out soon

in the 80s and early 90s (triazolam) was for jetlag, on airplanes. You would sleep for 1 hour, to catch up on some sleep. But .. people bad reactions, getting angry and having halcuintations. It's a very potent benzo that only lasts for about an hour or 2....posters have posted their experiences in the archive....i can't really give suggestions because you doctor is only one who would make a choice, inderal is a good option

Benzos really are the only effective 'on demand' medications. I mean you could try a high potency anti-histamine, but that would cause more sleepiness than anxiety relief.
If you get your doctor to prescribe a limited amount of the drug, there isn't much risk (unless you have a black market supply network that you are afraid you will turn to).

The problem is I already take it if I can't calm down otherwise. I feel that using it for flying is the last straw that breaks the camel's back.

Not sure if I follow.
If a drug addict goes in for major surgery, they still get painkillers.
a) do you need it?
b) will it help?If the answer to the above questions is 'yes', then take the least effective dose i.e. start by taking a small amount and then increase only if necessary.
You might use a longer acting drug (like clonazepam).
