If the Saphris is genuinely making you feel better, then the only thing that you should focus on is getting the dosage right.Forget about everything else for now. Leave your brain alone. Just allow it to reset itself and let Saphris do its work.
Enjoy the ride and don't look for other substances to take. It might take months or even a year before you reach full remission. Don't try to make it happen faster by adding more drugs. I have seen people begin to respond to Saphris in the first week. A friend of mine felt better within a week. It made an observable difference, particularly in the number of things she would get done during the day. Later, her mood improved. She was finally able to experience her true intelligence as her thoughts became clear and less slowed.
I hope Saphris keeps working for you.
Good luck.

> - ScottI think that your doctor first considered Saphris in 2013. Where did he got the idea from? Was he already giving Saphris to his patients by then?
Just a reminder: Be patient and try not to micro-manage your illness. Your illness symptoms are likely to come and go in waves - but on average, you will be headed in the direction of a growing improvement. It is not a straight line. I have too often micro-managed my own treatment. It wasn't often that I had success in doing that. There is a balance, though. You know your mind and body, not me. You need to be aware of adverse effects so that you can call your doctor to report them. Let the two of you come to a decision. He might tell you that he sees that effect about half the time, and that it always goes away.
Is this the best treatment for you so far? Let people here support you. You might want to communicate with people what you are experiencing before making the decision to discontinue treatment. This will be particularly important if you tend to be impulsive.
Good luck.

Please, please don't stop taking Saphris (asenapine).
With most antidepressants, depressed mood is the last thing that improves. Mental energy improves first. I am guessing that this is also true of Saphris. This is exactly how my friend responded to Saphris. Mental energy and cognitive clarity improved first. It took quite a few months before she reported that her depression had completely remitted.
If you can tolerate Saphris, I can't think of any reason for you to stop taking it yet.
