Hey babble-friends,
i have this buddy that has agitated depression along with anorexia. He doesnt throw up or anything but he just has no appetite!
Tried Escitalopram and reacted anxiously and has tried Mirtazapine and he got anxious as well. He certainly wasnt feeling better.
I have suggested Maprotilin but he doesnt like so much from what he has read. Do you have any better ideas?

It sounds like something a tricyclic antidepressant would help. There are conflicting reports with regard to using an antipsychotic to treat anorexia nervosa. Is the anorexia the result of agitation and anxiety attendant with the depression, or is it a separate eating disorder?

Tofranil helped me back when I had the intense bouts of depression. now, I cannot tolerate it, LOL.
but..yeah...Tofranil/Tofranil-PM (I have no idea if the PM form is better, but...it is available...)...
it sounds like something they'd use Triavil (perphanazine and Elavil) for, back in the day, so...Symbyax? Metabolic probs would be the big, big issue there...and most shrinks are slack about keeping tabs on those...
i think prozac+perphenazine did well in psychotic depression, before Symbyax came out. oh, and....consider adding in Buspar (buspirone). not the best on its own, but it helped me with serious agitation and also seemed to help me tolerate the tranquilizer better (weird...).ok. hope this helps.
This is the end of the thread.
