It looks like trials for mushrooms to treat depression start pretty soon.
With medical marijuana I think patients already have an excellent option for psychiatric purposes - depending on where they live - but the more options different than reuptake inhibitors the better. imo
Until then, drug-wise, I favor prozac, zyprexa, Ritalin, and we hardly ever hear of them, but either Modafinil or Adrafinil.
Herbwise I like Rhodiola Rosea, Lemon Balm, tiny doses of SJW, and all of the Adaptogens.
Holistic-wise I like gluten free, non-genetically modified, organic, anti-parasitic, anti-bacterial, anti-fungal, anti-viral, anti-toxicity, anti-inflammation, pro-immune, pro-brain, pro-heart.
I think minuscule doses of mushrooms could work well for depression so it will be interesting to see how that all turns out. I think these trials start in about a month.

Thanks for posting.
At least there is, finally, some movement towards trying alternatives (besides reuptake inhibitors) for resistant depression.

its the 60s all over again! LOL.
Dr.Abram Hoffer, the Orthomolecular shrink, treated some patients with LSD...I think his patients were mostly struggling with alcoholism, but I could be wrong.
Pfeiffer used hallucinogens, too. I mean...I think he was a minor player in some of the old school MKULTRA experiments on prisoners and such, but...because I like Orthomolecular so much, I'll give him a pass and just say "it was the times," etc. (shrug).
I'm glad this is happening. I guess 50+/- years is long enough for the bad press and stigma to fade sufficiently for a renewal of interest in these substances for the troubled among us.
The -very- few times I've played around with hallucinogens, I experienced...I suppose a "mood lift," but not like with mood drugs or stimulants. More like...a sense of clarity and peace, even a bit of...if not purpose (good luck finding purpose in a shroom), then at least meaning.
thanks for this, btw.
This is the end of the thread.
