Why would adding a small dose of Marplan (10/20mg) to a normal dose of Nardil be a serious risk for Serotonin Syndrome or hypertensive crisis?
Many people combine Nardil/Marplan with Lithium which is known to increase Serotonin in the brain. I don't understand why a small dose of Marplan added to Nardil would be more risky. The hope being that it sparks Nardil to work.
I understand why Parnate + another MAOi would be extremely risky but Nardil/Marplan are both hyrdrazine based.

Great question,
I have no idea. I have often wondered the same thing myself. Do you have any references to data suggesting you cannot combine them?
Perhaps two different MAOIs can synergistically inhibit MAO (more so than any one could).
Who knows.
