how's the low dose going? do you and your shrink want to keep it at a low dose? I'm just asking because one of my (many...) former shrinks told me that low doses of Abilify are "activating," whereas higher doses are "calming." For me, right now, 20mgs/day seems to be the right dose....
10mgs/day is the usual minimum for my set of problems, and I did find it somewhat stimulating. The 20mgs is, in fact, somewhat "calming"/tranquilizing, but not really sedating. So...I don't know you or your set of problems, but if you like Abilify overall and tolerate it reasonably well, I just thought you might want to talk to the shrink about an increase, at least for a little while, if appropriate.
just a thought. hope things get better.

I will consider other doses but I am scared of side effects.

hi. i understand being concerned about adverse effects. abilify is OK, but it can cause TD and all the other problems one associates with neuroleptics, plus...it seems that a lot of people go thru hell trying to get off of it, more so than many other psych drugs. i don't get it.
some people take mirapex. i guess its like the non-euphoric, non-addictive alternative to ritalin? I dunno. its stimulating and such, seems to help some forms of low mood, concentration difficulties, etc. i would assume it's cheaper than abilfy or the other d2 partial agonist drugs.
sorry about all this. now that i think about...with -any- neuroleptic, lower dosage is probably the way to go, when and if possible. have you considered supplements? I've personally found that b-vitamins and antioxidants help me tolerate the tranquilizer better (no stiff gait, akathisia, eps, major dypshoria, td, etc.).
hope this helps a bit. good luck.
This is the end of the thread.
