I tried to use Rexulti (brexpiprazole) as a replacement for Abilify to treat bipolar depression. For me, Abilify is a better antidepressant.

I don't recall the dosage. I experienced no side effects, but I was not on it long enough to determine the effect it had on my body weight. I had already gained 50 pounds on Abilify. From what I understand, Rexulti produces less akathisia than Abilify.

I saw an ad for this med on TV and then I went to study it. It has an interesting profile that should be helpful to some people. But as with all of these kinds of meds, the only way to know is a personal trial.

The brain cannot possibly work the way it is supposed to when we go block certain receptors, create un-natural levels of neurotransmitters, and such. So I would never expect remission on this med or any of the others. It does happen sometimes. But I wouldn't expect it. The profile of the med looks like it would be a good add-on but maybe not mono therapy.

Dunno. just thinking out loud...
