can you get an Rx for a different bzd? I found equivalent doses of ativan got the job done w/o the mood dampening effect. Valium is still popular in some countries, and it also does the job w/o near as much depression. xanax/xanax xr would obviously be a good choice if low mood is a problem.
I don't know about countering the low mood. That seems like a bad idea, intuitively. Having said that...maybe wellbutrin? Just a random thought.
Good luck!

Why is it a bad idea to counter low mood?
I was taking low dose alprazolam but it is short acting and I read it can affect hormones which is a problem I have (male), not sure if related.

Sorry, but can it be that 0.5mg is an extremely low dose?
I use to get real depressed on low doses of benzodiazepines.
Start with 2mg and see if that works and evaluate from there. :-)
Maybe you need 4mg , who knows.I started klonopin for the first time ever yesterday, and was prescribed 2mg as an initial dose.
I feel more social forward and was at work 6 hours on my day off today.
On the 4/7 i start memantine as my doctor sais it could reverse and slow down tolerance from the anxioulytic effects you get from benzos.I will update you on it. I have high hopes!
And like i said, i don't think klonopin is the problem, the problem is the dose..
I get anxious at 1mg xanax to because it's so freaking low, and some people do..

It's good for you guys who find 1mg ativan to get the job done, and 10mg valium.
Someone here said to me that the standard dose for diazepam was 40mg, 20 in the morning and 20 in the night, for like 20 years ago. Can't remember who said it but it was some long timer here.
I think it makes sense. That is 2mg klonopin and 4mg ativan and 2mg xanax.
But i don't think you should think like that, because it isn't doable to have 160mg valium, but it's not unusual to have 9mg alprazolam for instanse, or 6mg klonopin (which is like 100 diazepam).
It's different mechanism and you all know that.
Please, try 2mg klonopin at least before you go off it. 0.5 says absolutely nothing.

And i think it's dangerous behavior from the doctor to give some people 5mg diazepam in the morning and 5 in the evening. because they know that it often causes depression when the anxiolytic effect never have the chance to break through.

Anyway,I am not the only one that considers clonazepam depressant.
I definitively agree that benzos are pro social.

I know.. and you're right.
I'm just so worried that i am going to get depressed this time to, so upping the dose and adding memantine to reverse the tolerance is experimental for me, but i am SO worried that the clonazepam-depression is going to set in.
Cause it has before, so i know what you mean..
Was just trying to give you tips to avoid the depression, and to "pepp" myself to give it a try and not take it out in forehand.
If the depression comes, yeah then i have failed once again.
The message was never ment to sound angry or something in that way, i'm just scared to..
But don't you think that if memantine are reversing the tolerance, that you should be able to get the initial "benzo feeling" every day, or at least more often. And then the depression may be prevented by that?Cause i think that the depression comes when the anxiolytic/drugging effects disappear.
Hope you're fine! :-) :-)

Unfortunately I don't know about the use of meantime. I hope it works for you. :)

There is an extended release xanax, which I took for many year, although I haven't read about hormone affect.
I don't know how I'd counter the effect. Strong coffee? I took it briefly and could not handle that side effect. I felt very depressed, and needed to discontinue.

Like porkpiehat, I have been supplementing fluoxetine with .5mg of Klonopin (clonazepam).
Thanks!
