usally for anxiety in general they would use 600mg x 4 day, that's when you can't use a benzo and relying only on nuerontin, they do use smaller doses, but for a while i was on 800mg x 4 daily, morning, afternoon, evening, bedtime.......

it does work well wit the mood, and its addictive, has mild antidperessant effects

*its not addictive, sorry

Lyrica is a good choice but in the US it is CV scudele, but it's has some abuse potential, but it does provide relaxation......

ask about lyrica or nuerontin, see if your doctor will allow lyrica, it's better than nuerontin, yet nuerontin has no abuse potential

It shouldn't be necessary to deliver evidence to your doctor. Anything you can find, they can also find. In fact they can find more since they have full access to medical journals and colleagues that you don't have. In my experience, trying to present evidence to doctors isn't helpful, and creates an adversarial relationship.

Instead, tell them you've heard of it being used and want to know what they think of it. Possible outcomes are:

1) they know about it and are willing to try it with you
2) they know about it, but have a reason to not try it with you
3) they don't know about it, but can research it themselves
4) they don't know about it and are not interested in learning about it

If it's 1-3, then they don't really need evidence from you. If it's 4, then your evidence won't help and you might want to check another doctor.

i tried the 100mg and it seems to be working favorably. However i get munchies i cant control.

So i dont know if that is of much use as weight is the primary issue with the neuroleptics already.

my doc insists on Rx-ing 100mgs as needed, up to 2x daily (so, 60 capsules/month). It does help when I need it, but it kinda throws my thinking abilities for a loop. I think its because I already take lamictal and trileptal (?).

I'd be concerned about (over)sedation with your medication cocktail. But...sometimes, if you can take neurontin or some other sedative, it makes it easier to reduce neuroleptic dosage.

Good luck!

Hi Lamadge,
i've been on it for a few years and it works really well on general anxiety. My suggestion would be to start with 100mg TID and go from there. sometimes that is enough and works well for folks. i use 300mg anywhere from 2-5x day depending on what my needs are. Typically when i am struggling with alot of anxiety i use daily at 3x. but right now i only have mild and to keep on top of it i use twice daily. about 11am and then about 6 or 7pm. if having rough day i slip one in about 2 pm.
the only thing i dont like about it is that (at least for me) it takes about 2 hours before it really 'kicks in' for me. Which is frustrating. So there are times where i will take a gabapentin and also a small amount of benzo so that i have immediate releif in small amount, knowing in a couple hours i will have total coverage.
For me gabapentin has worked really well. I have noticed one other thing. It seems to work better if you take it regularly and at regular times, regardless if you think you have anxiety or not. i wouldnt suggest using it PRN. You can PRN the amount, but not On/Off. If you do you could experience headaches or moodiness, and also it just doesnt seem to work as well.
Best wishes!
