Hi all. 6 weeks or so ago I increased my isocarboxazid from 90mg to 140mg. Dr's consent. Anyway, I was waiting for start-up problems. And what happened? I got the same side effects I had when I began, and what i had on phenelzine too. Urinary retention. It will go on its own, MAOI START-UP side effects always do. But what to do in the meantime? I did what I did in the past. Started to takea good source of Saw Palmetto. I had to double the dosage I used when I started the MAOI and that did the trick! So anybody getting this side effect, possibly from other meds too should seriously consider getting a month supply. I take the whole herb at a total daily dose of 3.6g, or you can get standardized herb meaning less tablets. On the start up I needed half that, 1800mg. Its a very quick acting herb and can work in the 1st 48hrs. No promised tho!
Its also a potent Prostate protector and contains antioxidents too. Urinary & Prastate health are it's main functions. Just thought I'd throw this out there. Urinary hesitation can be a big problem for many people.

That's a big increase in dose. Did you benefit from it? How does this med compare, for you, to Nardil? I'm starting a Nardil trial a week from Tuesday. Why did you switch? Any advice?

What were your Nardil side effects? How long did they last?
