anyone try lamictal ER?

Posted by porkpiehat on December 11, 2015, at 13:10:52

When I take it in the morning with my celexa it zones me out and drops my mood. I take a chunk in the late afternoon and it helps with my social anxiety and motivation. I take it at night and I can sleep for crap.

Another manufacturer is better for mood and motivation but is worse with the sleep and gives me bad headaches.

We were thinking about extended release but we are fighting with insurance. Anyone else taking this? what were you responses?

Cheers,

How much are you taking?

I take regular Lamictal twice a day as 150 mg b.i.d. If I try taking it all at once, I feel zoned-out. Not only that, I begin to lose the antidepressant effect before it's time for the next dose. I used to take 100 mg t.i.d.

yea i used to take 400mg in the morning, and i was spaced out for a long time, i had to talk with my doctor to lower it, lamictal works diffrent but with me i don't get depressed, but it makes things feel boring......like a baseline state

i take 200mg at night, sometimes ill try to tune it down to 100mg

I think we really ought to think of regular Lamictal (IR) as a drug to be taken twice a day. Try 100 mg b.i.d.

I remembered that the most "normal" I have ever felt was the day AFTER a night of drinking, so instead of moving back to something drastic and numbing, I decided to take a full .5 mg of klonopin before bed.

Typically I took .125-.250 mgs before bed and then another of the same dose during the day. It took just enough edge off and slowed my brain down enough to help concentrating.

Well at .5 mgs (which is not a large dose most would agree) the cognitive problems, headaches and suicidal ideations fell away. makes me wonder if the symptoms were anxiety related or from the celexa/ Lamictal combo and the klonopin helped to regulate whatever overstimulation was coming from them.

Now I'm concerned about the slippery klonopin slope. Ive been on it for three years without abusing it so far. I'm sure there are strong thoughts about this on Babble.
