prozac increased

Posted by rjlockhart37 on September 18, 2015, at 21:23:43

i went to the doc today, icreased it to 80mg so i took it this afternoon, start the new 40mg capsules tommorow....

the only thing that made me think even though it's not an option, i read that prozac is the "least" selective SSRI, and that others ones like zoloft, remeron, effexor, lexerpo are known to improve depressive symptoms more than prozac......but prozac was the first SSRI i think released, there may of been one before it in early 80s, but ... i've taken it for 10 years, i would really like to try Marplan or Parnate but the doc told me she doenst want to because of side effects, parnate and marplan are for severe depression.......i wouldnt mind trying one of them but i don't think it's a choice by my doctor......

there the most effective antidepressants available, potent, fast acting, but im in school right now and i can't discontinue prozac because im adjusted to it's effects, some days like i said i don't notice anything, it's like im desynthized to it's effect........it does provide a relief, like everything thing is gonna alright feeling......

im staying on lamictal at 200mg, i got off the 400mg because it made me so boring, and not get excited and euphoric

anyways.....im glad it was increased ill see if produces any enhanced antidepressant relief at that dose

RJ,

Thank you for keeping us posted on how your doctor's appointment went and on your medication changes. Good luck with the higher dose of Prozac and with the lower dose of Lamictal. I hope that with the medication changes that you're undertaking and with any other treatment strategies that you might be using that you'll find your mental well-being to be at a level that's at least near where you'd like for it to be.

> get excited and euphoric

Is euphoria your goal?

Would euthymia be intolerable for you?

Have you ever tried Nardil? How did you respond to it?

not meaning euphoria like getting high, but just waking up in the morning and having a good feel about starting the day.....when i was on the lamictal at 400, it made everything just flat, not excited, boring day.......felt like a robot

no i have tried nardil.....i don't think i will for a long time, because my doctor doesnt want to use MAOI's .... so im still with prozac at 80mg

Good luck. I think going up higher on the Prozac makes sense since you are already taking it.

i've been on it now 2 days, i notice a slight enhancement, fluoxetine when it working correctly acts like a catch net,

first started it, it gave me a small content feeling, and then when it was moved to 40mg i noticed it's mood enhance effect, i was peppy and had a postive feeling, but after time, just like with every drug, the mind adapts and levelizes the effect, and it became less noticable.....i read somewhere that SSRI's used over a period of 10 years or more, it can make the synpase less sensitive to them......(tolerance)
so.....im also deplin with it, my doctor added it because she said that not enough serotonin in the synapse, even with fluoxetie present, it lowers in amount

ill see if it improves within a couple weeks, but i can't move to MAOI's even though they look like alot of relief, ill to stay with 80mg with deplin....
