My doc wants me on this combination. Is there any synergy between the two? Is serotonin syndrome risk higher with Brintellix / Vyvanse than other SSRI's since it has a broader effects on serotonin?

I can't address a chemical synergy. Sometimes I take Ritalin transdermally and found the two together to be quite energizing. I also take 200 mg. Ultram (tramadol er) daily and have with the above two without a problem. My doctor didn't have major issues with prescribing them.

I take Vyvanse and Brintellix. There is no increased risk for serotonin syndrome between these two drugs. Serotonin syndrome most often occurs when two drugs that affect the body's level of serotonin are taken together at the same time. The drugs cause too much serotonin to be released or to remain in the brain area.
Vyvanse blocks the reuptake of norepinephrine and dopamine into the presynaptic neuron and increase the release of these monoamines into the extraneuronal space. It does not increase levels of serotonin and therefore is not a risk for serotonin syndrome.

Thank you for sharing that information. How is the combo working for you? Any problems with insomnia? I will soon begin taking the 2 together. I have been on Fetzima for 3 weeks and although effective, I can't tolerate the sexual side effects. I now have a lot of free samples of Brintellix. If effective, I hope I can afford to buy the prescription.
