Positive Brintellix review

Posted by Horse on August 18, 2015, at 10:06:25

I'm relieved to report I'm doing well on Brintellix. I find it procognitive. I haven't Ritalin for the past two weeks. I have more energy...my usual mode is a lethargic atypical depression. I'm sleeping about 8 hours as opposed to my usual 12. I used to take Lexapro at night because it would make me spaced and tired. Now I take Brintellix in the morning. I need to take it with food or else I'll experience nausea. May not be for everyone of course...but it does feel very different from my last AD (Lexapro).

How long have you been taking Brintellix?

How long has it been working for you?

Have you taken Nardil or Parnate? What were the results?

Thanks, Horse.

Do you feel it's different from other Ad/s in same category or just the way your body reacts to it. As from what I've read seems lexapro gets the best reviews. But then what you are taking is much newer. So that is great. P

Hi P. It's the way it feels. I think it's still a ssri. Yeah, I think of Lexapro as pretty reliable, and I like it okay...the doctor was going to increase the dosage or try this. Idk, didn't want to increase...thought I could go back to Lexapro, but I still had symptoms like apathy and lethargy. So wish me luck.

How are you sweetie?

Hi Scott,

Well, it's only been two weeks at 10 mg., and I'll do another two weeks at 10. Then my pdoc and I will evaluate how I'm doing, I imagine, before increasing. I'm really hoping my improvements will continue even if they diminish a bit. I'm aware that this may be a honeymoon phase. But no mania so far!

Never did above maoi's. Only emsam, which was good, too.

Good to see you.

Have you thought of therapy to deal with the fears?

As far as medication...I think best first step is to try raising the dose of current meds to see if that helps, then if not, try something different.

I like Lyrica for anxiety. I no longer take a benzo daily like I did for years. I have more energy now...I think even though one can get used to the sedation of benzos, it's still always there in the background. I can't believe how much better I felt after getting off them.

You've always seemed very resistant to making any changes, even though you don't feel good. I hope that doesn't come across badly, I just think you deserve to feel better. You have many, many years ahead of you, and you deserve to feel good Phillipa! herpills

ps glad to see you here posting again. your support is appreciated by many

Hey Horse, sorry did't mean to hijack your thread when I posted to Phillipa. I'm glad to hear you are feeling better.

SSRI's eventually "pooped out" for me, plus they never helped anxiety for me, only depression. I also got tired of the side effects (insomnia, sexual dysfunction)

I've moved on to 15mg Remeron and it is working very well for me. Also Lyrica for anxiety. Good combo for me.

Lexapro was certainly the best for me as far as SSRI and I did well on a low dose of 5mg.

Keep us posted on Brintellix...I think posts about the newer meds can be beneficial to people who feel like they're running out of treatment options. herpills

Thanks Herpills. Unfortunately I have a pdoc that doesn't listen and continues to prescribe same meds. I would love to come off them all. 45 years is a long time to have taken a benzo. Never made me groggy though? Used to relieve anxiety so had a lot of energy. P
