joe,
The withdrawal from this drug could be in the top ten worst withdrawals.
I am prevented from posting here a way to overcome the worst of withdrawals due to the prohibitions to me here by Mr. Hsiung. But I say to you, if you post here what your plans are and when you want to start and how long and what dose you have taken, I could offer you some guidelines to alleviate the misery that could befall you.
Lou

When I tapered off 2-3mgs/day Klonopin, I got terrible headaches. Only Midrin really worked, and probably because it has a sedative in it (just my guess).

My sleep was messed up. My anxiety came back plus extra. Ugh...rough, rough times.

On the plus side, my tapering experiences led me to search for other ways to deal with agitation and anxiety. I now do old school, Dr.Hoffer style Orthomolecular (b3+C+b-complex+whatever else you want). The OM has been helpful...not only am I less anxious, I don't get tremor and twitches from my Abilify.

I've read elsewhere that the ideal taper involves a switch to an equivalent dose of Valium, then a slow taper off Valium. I don't know how many docs actually do that, though.

No. I very much doubt it, especially with Ativan on board. I would look toward Lexapro as being the culprit. Please speak to your doctor about any changes to be made to your treatment plan.

--------------------------------------

* Answering the following questions would be helpful.

What drugs have you tried so far?

Is anxiety one of the symptoms of your illness?

Have you tried psychotherapy with or without medication?

--------------------------------------

If you are to add "orthomolecular" substances to your intake, I would consider taking things like N-acetylcysteine (NAC), methylfolate, inositol, alpha lipoic acid, omega-3 fatty acids, L-theanine, magnesium - things that have demonstrated efficacy in scientific studies. Of course, it is important that you not be deficient in vitamins and minerals. I don't happen to have a list of those that have a place in supratherapeutic dosages. Vitamin D3 and B12 are good to start with, especially if blood tests show that you are deficient in them.

i stopped klonopin before i went to xanax, it just causes anxiety, but mainly if you don't have it during anxiety attacks is when it's bad

so you think it could be Lexapro or the lamictal stoppage......thinking of stopping Lexapro for 2 days....would that help to rule that out.....
