increase prozac

Posted by rjlockhart37 on February 11, 2015, at 18:31:38

im on 60mg right now for depression, and not sure if my doctor will increase to 80mg, i have really struggled with bad depression, but i do notice at times ill be not depressed, and more bubbly, but it doesnt happen much, when i first started fluoxetine only thing i noticed was a small mood lift, then when it was increased to 40mg i noticed signifcant mood improvement, made me bubbly and more mental energy, but not like a psychostimulant, prozac doesnt really improve motor skills, or motivation that amphetamine does, but it somehow makes you in the mood to be able to work on tedious things.....

but still if i am going back to 80mg have no idea what will happen, if my body will stay in this depresso wresso state of low actity even in stimulating places.....

i don't know,

my meds:
prozac 60mg
lamictal 400mg
nuvigil 250mg
zyprexa 20mg

and what im noticing is the lamictal and zpyrexa together where used to treat the paranoia i had, thinking everyone was taking notes on me, you know and sometimes when someone is paranoid they have good reason to be because there are people who discrettly plan things against someone, or watch them for various reasons, my previous psychiatrist in 09 slowly bumbed me to geodon 160mg and zyprexa 10mg.....to a point where i didnt care if people where following me around and planning plots to harass, but i don't think i need to be on zyprexa, it makes me hungry all the time, and has caused me to gain serious amounts of weight, something i call the "zyprexa face" it makes your face round

it's tough.....but obviously maybe i will get the depression taken care of....

Hi RJ,

What symptoms do you currently have at the moment? I mean, can you describe in a few sentences what the biggest problems are right now, in terms of your mental health?

Increasing Prozac beyond 60mg is not usually helpful for depression. Very high doses are mainly used to treat resistant obsessive-compulsive disorder. Since this is not your problem, I think you need to look at other strategies to improve your symptoms.

my main things rotate, i have bad depression for hours, yet it's hard to explain i feel depressed but i don't feel the deep depression i have being on meds.......

when i get really depressed i feel lie im dropping in the bottomless pit just like falling, see no sunlight or hope

and then, i don't know how to say it, it's depression with some agitated states of thinking about things that extremely bother me, i usally day dream alot, about random things even while i'm in a classroom, everything tunes out only what ever im thinking about......maybe it's the lamictal......i have ADD, i stare into space, lose things, forget my train of thought and thats why it takes so much energy to stay focused....

sometimes im so spaced out i don't really care about anything exept whats on my mind......i havent been having deep depression drops where i totally drop into depressed daydream

excersice and drinking coffee are one of my self treating strategies......
