It's useful for many types of anxiety, and it's usually one of the better tolerated SSRIs. Doesn't suit everyone, naturally.

Probably similar. Lexapro may be slightly less likely to cause an initial worsening of anxiety than Zoloft, but this can happen with any SSRI in people who are not used to them. Lexapro is also less likely to cause an upset stomach/diarrhea. On the other hand, Lexapro has a reputation for being slightly more emotionally 'numbing' than Zoloft, but I don't know if this is really based on anything.

In people with bipolar disorder, SSRIs often cause agitation, so care is needed.

That depends on the circumstances. Making med suggestions without knowing about you in detail would have no value.

i have found that the first few weeks on lexapro can be a bit edgy but after that it did not cause anxiety. good luck

If you (me) have been taking sub theraputic dose for about 5 years and were to up it some think it could work or too late? Thanks Phillipa
