...age 18. Age 30, I'm on disability, had 2 rounds of involuntary ECT, 2 hospitalizations, my confidential information has apparently been given to people around my small, southern town, and I'm supposed to accept that I have "an incurable condition called BIPOLAR DISORDER."
At least its the "recovery model," right? yeah. but aren't all shrinks the same? I suspect they all leave victims in their wake.
On the plus side...my people are behind me...because I've been diagnosed with "mental illness." They have resources, which I usually don't need, but do come in handy (like when my ex-shrink came after me and they hired me an attorney).
Is this thing real?

I know you had a bad experience with a psychiatrist, CE, but I object to your demonizing of all p-docs. They are not all the same. My p-doc is caring, compassionate and highly ethical. I have been hospitalized a number of times, where I was treated by p-docs who were conscientious, ethical and did everything they could to try and help me. Just because you had a bad experience, does not mean the entire psychiatric profession victimizes people.

Haha, actually, today i moved out and i met my pdoc who was my neighbor.
Hes a cool cat.
Also i had a cool pdoc in hospital and i have a cool guy now although he sometimes seems to black out and say stuff that even i know is wrong.
Personally though, he is really ok.
I can still call the pdoc in hospital if i need anything.

I wouldn't be well off as I am today without my shrink.

Unfortunately, yes.
