Restarting Wellbutrin And Different Response

Posted by MeezerCat on May 25, 2014, at 20:42:52

Hello,

The crappy state run clinic I go to has had the one psychiatrist there out for two months now.
Perhaps Suspended?..Who knows? No one will give out any information as to why.

Anyhow, there are regular nurses- non psych have been doing med management. Nurses are also doing their other duties with regular non psych patients.

Low and behold my script was screwed up..not once but Twice..The insurance had already paid for it and wouldn't pay for the correct script/dose despite it being the clinics error. Was repeatedly told by nurse "oh we'll get a 72 hour emergency approval from your insurance"..that was three weeks ago.

So had to stop Wellbutrin IR cold turkey. Not Good, Not Good.

So I took it upon myself and paid out of pocket with my own money $22.00 for five 75mg IR pills from pharm. After three weeks of being off of it..restarting it was like taking a placebo...nothing..absolutely nothing. I ended up taking 225mgs and nothing. This was on the only AD that helped me and now from stopping it and restarting it I'm getting different results. Why? Why? Why?

This is it for me and Wellbutrin then?

I'm screwed.

Crappy irresponsible state clinic..isn't it the patients right to have a psych there?

Thank You.

After three weeks, the Wellbutrin had left your system and what needed to happen was to restart the medication and build it bcak up over the course of a couple weeks. It wont work immediately just starting it back up.

Did you get the same brand that you had been taking? Thete have been many reports about people experiencing different effects from different brands of Wellbutrin.

here are some people talking about the difference between name brand and generic for them.

http://www.crazymeds.us/CrazyTalk/index.php/topic/13174-wellbutrin-generics-not-as-effective/#

they say the name brand works better for them. but even if you were taking generic before, then it could be that the generic version works for your unique body chemistry.

Was def. Brand name as it's Medically Necessary For me.

Initially taking the Brand 75mg IR I had an immediate response..due to being so depressed. This time there was nothing, no difference. So took 225mg and nothing..

I did find information re: the stopping and restarting of meds and they just don't work the same or at all for some people...

Have another post here re: 150mgXL if You guys could check it out for me as well please.

I truly have to be my own advocate now as it's quite clear Some Medical Professionals aren't capable or could care less.

Thank You,

Haha The clinic sounds like the care center my son ends up in every few months. Qualified people...Not!
The person running the psychiatric treatment center is an Osteopath which to me means Chiropractor.
That is someone who manipulates your spine etc. for back or muscular skeletal problems.
Wellbutrin helped my son but I think they over medicated him 450 mg of Wellbutrin first thing
in morning and 1 20 mg prozac and 3 5mg Haldol during the afternoon. It worked well for a while
but in a month his muscles locked up with EPS and his hands were shaking from the Wellbutrin.
As far as EPS that had to be from the Haldol.
He doesn't seem to be able to tolerate Cogentin or Artane so the Haldol was dropped as well as the
Wellbutrin which he should probably still be taking only less than 450 mg.
Now he is taking Latuda which doesn't work for him so he is back relapse mode.
I still think Wellbutrin is a good medication and is sometimes called a mood elevator which is what it did for my son.
