I dropped tofranil, 150mgs/day. My pdoc wants me on Lamictal, 400gs on top of:
1200 trileptal
30 abilify
up to 200-300 Neurontinand he wants me to start at 50mgs/day. Is that weird? I'm kinda scared. He's foreign, and I read they do lamictal titrations differently abroad. I've been on lamictal before, no problems.
Your thoughts?

How do the foreign docs do the titrations differently? What did you start at before? And if you had no problems then should be okay? How come the change in meds though? Phillipa

I don't like tofranil..or other ads, either.
So..lamictal. Its an anticonvulsant, so it should help with agitation. Also, it should help with the low moods.

And yeah, I've heard that people with epilepsy start off at 50mg and escalate quickly. The rash thing is overblown, yes it does happen, but very rarely.
I've seen some Lamictal titration schedules that are almost ridiculous, just way too conservative.
My plan is to take 25mg for a week, then go up to 50, stay there to see how I feel and, if needed, titrate up to 100mg.
But anyway, yes, some people do start off at 50mg without a problem and take it from there.

If you had no problems previously, then there's nothing to worry about.

i used quite a fast titration with no problems. Started at 25mg for a week, then 50, 100 and then 200 all increasing in one week intervals
