Posted by BrainDamage on May 1, 2014, at 7:37:59

Hi
I'm really struggling with insomnia on Nardil
I'm looking at every option, do you think Low doe Clozapine would help Insomnia?

Anyone have experience with Clozapine?

What about Seroquel? It's prescribed off-label for insomnia.

A combination of Trazodone, diphenhydramine, melatonin and cannabis works for me.

Seroquel seemed to work & then loose effectiveness
Will probably have to give it a try again
Trazadone leaves me with a hangover from hell
And I got Sertotonin Syndrome combining 150mg of Traz with 75mg of Phenelzine!
Not fun
I scared of Diphenhydramine because it has some SSRI affect

I take Melatonin & Mirtazapine 45mg
Alternating between Mirtaz & Etizolam supplemented with Zopiclone
Trouble with Mirtaz is that tollerance seems to build after a day or two

I've been researching clozapine today in textbooks.

I don't think it's the best way to go I'd say olanazapine is safer, but that is still a bad choice.

I believe I am... Rather intelligent on this subject on sleep needs. It all depends on what you need. All you provide is general insomnia. I would try lorazepam. If that doesn't work, try a "z-drug", I believe the best is Zaleplon (Sonata), followed by a large dose a diazepam, zolpidem (Ambien) and then quazepam (Doral).

Next,

Try; promethazine, doxepin, amitriptyline, trazadone, trimipramine.

If you must go the neuroleptic route, try chlorpromazine and thioridazine; maybe even haloperidol.

Good luck!

low(ish) dose thorazine can help insomnia. Before it was marketed for schizophrenia, it was marketed as a tranquilizer, sedative, and a drug to mix in with pre-op cocktails.

Anyway, its sedating and calming and cheap. All I could come up with.

OVERKILL. Clozapine is a serious drug, not for insomnia. It can kill all your white blood cells and/or cause a heart attack.

Try Gabitril 12 mg.

clozipine would be really hard to get for insomnia....it's a main drug for moderate to severe schizophenia, alot of people in state psychiatric hospitals take it.....it will get you to sleep but it causes drooling, blunts emotion, makes you vary passive.....

if you could get a doctor to try it.....yea....but the side effects of it cause complicatiojns and blood work has to be done with it....in most cases...

i take zyrexa it is VARY sedating....im on 20mg, it will definetly get you to sleep but bad thing is there's sedation and blunted thinking the next day.....it's like a version of antipsyotic phenobarbital medication

seroquel is a main thing they use for insomnia today.....it knocks you out but deosnt last the next day like zyprexa....
