Hello, Once I start my valium dry cut taper using 2mg pills, do I cut the amt Ive decided on, every day and do that for 3-4 weeks, then, if feeling well, go to next slightly larger cut every day and do that for 3-4 weeks? Im assuming when I get down to 4 or 5mg I then slow down, do smaller cuts.

You don't need to reduce your dose every day. You just stay on the same dose for 2-4 weeks then reduce in small steps.

Thanks, so if Ive decided on going from 10mg down to 9mg. I stay at 9mg everyday for 3-4 weeks, then go to 8mg, stay 3-4 weeks? Once I get lower, like to 4mg, I may then decide to go to 3.5mg for 3-4weeks, and so on.

Yes, that's right. If you're feeling totally fine you can reduce every 2 weeks, if you need to go slower go with every 3-4 weeks.

There is no real hurry, but I know you've wanted off benzodiazepines for awhile. I would think to be careful of rebound anxiety--it might creep up. I think it's great you are withdrawing.

Thanks for ur words of encouragement. I do so many things other than benzos to work on my anxiety-fingers crossed-I hope to not have too bad of a go of dealing with it head on. I do have remeron I can take occ(very low dose), that can help me sleep or put out an anxious fire that's building. I am also not ruling out using klonopin or Xanax as needed. Ive always been very strict with my dosage, so I don't think I'd get into another situation where I'd start using it daily or even weekly, ever again. But Im not in the thick of w/drawal. However, being able to switch over to valium pretty easily, has given me strength and courage to go all in to get completely off daily benzos. I always gave up, thinking id be tied to klonopin for life. I can also resort to Zoloft or Prozac if necessary, altho I don't want to if possible! Glad to hear from u. How r u? Arent u the one who posted about the tradewinds of Hawaii and how nice they were? Im going to Bermuda next month. I will pretend Im in a miniature Hawaii! : )

you should ask your doctor about maybe klonopin, valium has a longer half life, and is a bit more harder to come off of than klonopin....
ummmm maybe you could ask about a long acting benzo?

Yes, trade winds :) Is Bermuda in the horse latitude--? I haven't been, and it sounds lovely. Are you traveling by boat? I think you have spoken about the night stars from a ship.
I think you are going to do well in tapering Valium. If I remember, the c/o was uneventful. Very good!

Bermuda is 700 miles off the east coast. Clear, blue water, pink sand, wonderful people! Very safe, relaxing place & easy to get to. Yes, my c/o was almost a nonevent & I was very surprised by thAt. It gives me courage to move forward & I can taper with 2 mg pills! Oh, I'm getting to Bermuda by ship & I will be star gazing!

Rj, I was on klonopin .5mg once daily for 5 1/2 yrs. I tried to taper off it sev times, never successful. So I requested a
C/o to 10mg Valium so I could taper that using 2mg pills.
The c/o went very well, no probs. I'm on Valium stabilizing for 30 days b4 taper. I'm going by dr reg pearts recommended c/o & taper.
