Hi All.
I have had bad depression and anxiety most of my life and I find a slightly higher then recomended (but responsible) dose of Baclofen. (Baclofen GABA-B agonist similar to Gabapentin and Pregabalin) gives me 100% remission from my symptoms (Don't get much of an effect from it though unless I am taking my Anti-Depressant which is an irreversible MAOI). It helps heaps with my Extreme social Anxiety. For me it's like the pro social and euphoric effects of Alcohol without the retarded motor function and other side effects. (My friends kind of like it to). The problem is I get a tolerance to it fairly quickly. Then get off the stuff (which is really hard) and try to go without it. (Psychiatrists regrets giving it to me and doesn't think I should take it on and off).
Just wondering if anyone else uses these substances for a mood disorder or general well being, which is their favorite, if they could recommend any other GABAnergics alone or in combination and do if they know if Baclofen, Pregabalin and or Gabapentin would have a cross tolerance.
I am especially interested in Tiagabine if anyone has tried it? Probably less of a tolerance their.
I have read on this board its not to popular but taking it with Parnate at a slightly higher dose.... I dunno it might be worth trying.Regards.

I was going to suggest Tiagabine as I have taken it before. As a anxiolytic is a has amoderate to strong effect and helps with sleep greatly. Its basically a GABA reuptake inhibitor (SGRI), increasing the available amount of GABA in the brain.
You can take anywhere from 2-56 mg and I have no idea the effects of higher doses as the most I ever took was 12 mg. The only notable effect was some 'drunkenness' that dissipated.

Mmm. The drunkenness you describe sounds allot like Baclofen. I find Baclofen is the Closest thing to Alcohol in a pill. But if you take the right dose you get all the positives of Alcohol without the Negatives
Most people do not find this with Baclofen nor did I when I wasn't taking an MAOI. And Tiagabine is not very popular at all. But in combination with an MAOI it could work.
I wonder why there arn't more potent GABA reuptake inhibitors on the market. They could be awsome for Anxiety. Big $ to be made their.
This is the end of the thread.
