Is Clomipramine better than SSRI in treating OCD?
I've tried all the SSRIs for OCD, but none of them worked for me.
Now I'm on Clomipramine. Is it bad for one's heart?

It certainly can be better than the SSRI's in OCD, because it hits more receptors
It is only "bad for the heart" in overdse, if yiu took thew whole pack at once
Dont give up on it until you have reached 150mg per day and stayed there for a good amount of time

It is important to note that when treating OCD, higher dosages of standard antidepressants are often needed when compared to treating depression. It also takes longer for treatment to begin working. For instance, it often takes a minimum of 60 mg/day of Prozac taken for several months to obtain meaningful results. Hopefully, clomipramine will work faster for you. This drug is probably the most potent anti-obsessional available, and not to be overlooked in cases refractory to SSRIs.

I read that high dose ADs reduce frontal lobe activity, so they use higher doses to reduce OCD-ish stuff. That's particularly true of the SRI drugs (Zoloft=Soul Off). The TCA drugs generally don't cause as much hypofrontality.

Without a doubt, clomipramine is far more effective than SSRIs. SSRIs are like drinking American beer after having Canadian beer for a year - no offence to my American friends.
