Don't worry, I haven't changed my meds again.
I am taking under advisement what the specialist had to say. And, I might actually discuss it with my current pdoc. She may be upset I consulted another doc, but, what the heck.
He wants me to take Oxtellar XR 600mg (not crazy at being his lab rat on this med) once a day at night and one in the morning. I'll probably be blind as a bat and nauseous as all get out. Trileptal over 900mg, I've found makes me nausous. I'm better dosing it 3 times a day at 300mg. Still effects my vision terrible though.
He also wants me to switch (over time - taper off Geodon) from Geodon to 5mg Abilify.
I'm afraid of getting fat from Abilify. It makes me swell up and crave sweets.
Anyone know of the weight gain associated with Abilify over Geodon.
So far, I've had no weight gain with Geodon.

Abilify and Geodon are both supposed to be the better atypicals in terms of weight gain. I have no idea how they compare to each other. I've heard of manic activation from Geodon happening now and then, which doesn't seem to a problem with Abilify (Abilify is a very strong anti-manic agent at full doses).
I hope all works well for you :-) Some people take a tiny dose of Abilify every 2-3 days. Could you talk to your pdoc about that? That would save $$$ and probably side effects.

Yes, I remember now, trying 2mg of Abilify back in 2005-2006 I think and I did gain weight. Just awful.
It was a great drug for my sex life, but I can't eat like crazy!
I would hope the 900mg of Trileptal would help with any mania caused by Geodon.
Also, this neuro doc doesn't like to Rx benzos, so I at least asked if I could get a script for Buspar, which did help with my depression and anxiety.
Abilify, ironically enough, gave me akathesia, which only Klonopin took care of!
Right now, until I see my regular pdoc, I'm sticking with my Geodon, Trileptal and Klonopin.
Would Buspar cause mania? It seems like when I took it before it took about 3 weeks to work and then it made me sleepy in the afternoon. Better sleepy than raging. Bonus: Buspar helps my depression & curbs my appetite.

The doc looked into my eyes with a light and I guess everything was ok.
I'm going to address the eyesight issue with my doc.
This is the end of the thread.
