I had magnetic seizure therapy, 24 sessions of it.
It's basically a treatment that is harsher than rTMS but not completely ECT.
I thought I'd make this thread for anyone that is thinking of having it done and has any questions.
Ask away :)

How much do you think it helped, percentage-wise? Was it hard to undergo?

Were did you have MST done, and who administered it?

It did lower my MADRS/HAMD score I think by 25%, but I believe it was more because I came off Nardil and started Zoloft (which gives me a 40-50% effective AD response).
Overall, I think the results for me personally were quite negligible. Everyone that worked there was completely professional, nice (good bedside manner) and weren't the least bit stigmatizing.
Luckily I had no side effects from the procedure that I'm aware of.
I saw people over my 24 courses that DID get better though, but the efficacy of it seems a tad overrated. Interesting new therapy though.

I had the procedure done at CAMH Queen/Ossignton location within Toronto, Ontario. Staff was incredibly friendly and delightful to be around. All of the psychiatrists that performed the procedure seemed very intelligent and answered any questions I had. They were also extremely punctual and productive with the number of patients that they had to go through.
I received 23 treatments exactly and was anesthetized with methohexital I believe and had a muscle relaxant which was succinylcholine.
The first treatment was pretty freaky. For me it felt like I was being pummeled by an avalanche of snow. They became easier though but some patients had trouble getting them done.
It didn't work for me (or I really doubt it did) but I talked to some people first hand that felt it being effective.
It was weird waking up and for the first 5 minutes forgetting your age/where you were, what the date is etc.
The doctors I had I believe were Dr. Daskalakis, Dr. Goldbloom and Dr.Blumberger for most of the sessions.

I'm sorry you didn't respond more completely to treatment.
You are very resilient.

I wish it had worked, but it didn't. I really didn't notice a difference between the beginning of treatments and the end.
I would say that just talking with the staff and them reassuring me that it probably would work was
a more significant antidepressant effect. Honestly there wasn't one person down there that wasn't super friendly and easy to get along with.So yeah, I'm looking into augmenting Zoloft atm (it leaves me with apathy and significant concentration/motivation issues) though kills my depression by like 60%. Taking saphris now with it, then will try geodon, lithium, lyrica and then I might enroll into DBS.
