It's been interesting. 20-60mg puts me out cold at night and manic-y during the day.
80mg is magic. While 80mg carries some issues I wonder if those issues will go away?
The issues are: hard finding words, bad memory, difficult to reach orgasm, water retention.
I had these same problems with risperdal & Abilify.
BUT, 80mg is magic for my mood. It's fantastic. It makes life so good. I'm such a nice person - the way I'm supposed to feel.
So, not sure if there is an answer to this, maybe the side effects will go away with time.
Anyone know if these side effects go away?
Also, anyone try the new generic Geodon? Haven't tried it yet. Hate generics!

I think of any antipsychotic--atypical, old school, whatever, at any dose--as a "necessary evil."
They carry definite risks. There's TD to worry about, cardio issues (I think Geodon still has that black box warning, not sure though), cognitive dulling, etc.
That said...try to do a risk: benefits analysis in your head. Think about what you get out of treatment, the realistic risks, and what you can do (if anything) to minimize your risks. Take into account the cost of the med(s), too.
I seriously recommend trying Orthomolecular with the medication(s) of your choice. I was absolutely, undeniably, irretrievably batsh!t crazy about 6 years ago. Psycho-social rehabilitation, faith in Christ, my family, Orthomolecular, and appropriately, carefully dosed meds helped me start to come out of it.
For someone with relatively mild issues (compared to mine, anyway), Orthomolecular wouldn't be all that expensive. It may very well prevent TD and reduce cognitive dulling. After a while, maybe a couple years, you might be able to taper the meds completely, try a PRN approach (even people with uber-schizophrenia sometimes recover to the point that they'll just take a neuroleptic when things get rough), or reduce your meds and dosages.
Seriously...seriously...seriously: consider it!

If there is anyone out there that still uses Geodon, I'd love to hear from you.
This is the end of the thread.
