Hi,
I know of two people here in the UK who did really well on it in the trials. Neither of them responded until after a year when the Anterior Cingulate (Brodmman area 25) was stimulateted.
One of the men who had it told me he got his life back after having been virtually reclusive. I'm not sure how he is doing now though as I've not spoken to him for about 2 years.
Sadly the other man who had it done and who told me at the time that it was really helping, committed suicide. I've been told that he had personal problems which co-incided with his letting the DBS stimulator battery go flat. Felt very sad about this as I was inspired after talking to him about his experience with DBS.
I know of a lady in the US who has suddenly responded to the DBS after they adjusted the settings.

Wow.. let me get this straight. They had the electrode turned on, stimulating their brain area for about a whole year before they suddenly responded to it?

Hi,
From what I gather they were targetting two differenct areas of the brain for this trial, the nucleus accumbens and the anterior cingulate, broddman area 25 I think it is. They didn't get any relief until the anterior cingulate was stimulated.

Denise
