Side Effects Queen here! I've been on Buspar for 6 days now, 10 mg a day. At first it increased my heart rate and gave me heart palps. I was taking it twice a day. But I found I couldn't sleep, so I started taking my dose closer together.
Yesterday was awful. I took 10mg together in the morning and I had awful chest pain, tightness and palpitations all day. It was awful.
Buspar has been a good med so far, but I can't take this side effect. I feel like I'm having a heart attack all the time!
My doc mentioned viibyrd, but honestly, I'm sick of meds and side effects.
Why can't I find a simple, low dose med that takes away anxiety and depression. Buspar did that for me, but am I damaging my heart at the cost! This is ridiculous!

What other meds are you taking? I wonder if there is an interaction.

I'm taking 150mg Trileptal, 1mg klonopin, asthma inhaler, Synthroid, singular, nasonex, melatonin. No caffeine.
Today I took a reduced dose of Buspar. Maybe taking 10mg all at once was too much. Seems like a small dose.
I know a lot of people complain about heart palps, chest pain or things when they start Buspar. Don't know if that would go away.
I really don't want to start over looking for a med, but I don't want heart issues. Maybe I have to back down to just 5mg at a time.
This is the time of year, going into fall that I will use my inhaler more, but that doesn't usually bother me.

Aren't the inhalers a form of steroid med? And if another type of inhaler is it one that raises heart rate? Could it be the asthma treatments are the culprit? Phillipa

hmm, I don't see any interactions. A metabolite of buspar has a minor effect on norepinephrine. Give it a week - if you can.
