nortript-will i likely cont. mprove with increase?

Posted by alchemy on July 15, 2013, at 14:14:10

I started at 25mg and have increased to 50mg. I think it has skimmed off the really bad depression. If this continues, it will be a miracle considering how many drugs I have tried. I have not experienced any improvement in anhedonia. Simple things seem too hard, dont want to do anything, and and wondering what "fun" is.
Because I have experienced a slight improvement, how likely is it that a higher dose will give me additional improvent?

The weight gain is a huge issue for me. If I hadn't already trief almost every med out there I would stop taking it for the horrible weight gain.

Most people do not feel well until they take 75 mg/day. I need 150 mg/day. I found that I felt better and better as the dosage was increased. Get a blood test to help guide you in finding the right dosage.

Thanks Scott! That is so good to hear (especially today). If you had problems with weight gain, did that get worse as you increased your dose?

I will be curious to see if you gain any weight. For me, I think the weight I've gained is more the product of Abilify than nortriptyline.

I'd increase to 75mg/day, stay there for 2 weeks or so, then get your blood levels checked. Between 50 and 150 is "the zone"

If you are within that range, but need more relief, you can add certain SSRI's (Zoloft, Celexa, Lexapro) to nortriptyline to hit both serotonin and noradrenalin
