I moved a little bit out of this depression im in. My life is just a bit more pleasant right now. I made a few posts on the faith forum that sounded a lot worse than what i have to say now.
Im on 300 mgs of Seroquel, they are testing my kidney and thyroid for potential Lithium therapy. I hope this curbs out some of the suicidal thoughts and mellow everything out a little bit. I feel some agressiveness at times a bit. Also i hope this will help against depression also without making me manic or anything. Dont plan to go very high in the dosage though,
The hospital complies with my goals. The only APs i havent tried yet are sulpirid and amisulpirid. Dont know if i will. So far Seroquel is the best out of all the others. The Seroquel seems to give me frequent urination which is a bit of a bummer and it makes my erections less hard. Maybe this will lessen over time idk. I noticed an improvement of 300 over 200 of seroquel, but no further improvement with 400. If it bothers me too much i will ask for 250 i guess.
Right now all they have given me is Effexor... but i dont really like reuptake inhibitors much at all.
I want to try Moclobemide Seroquel and Lithium. But i will see with the hospital staff if this would be better for me than Effexor Seroquel and Lithium.
Everything mellowed out a bit, i have better compliance with treatment and listen to the doctors a little more.. And i try to further mellow things out so i have a stable and good mood trajectory in life. I tried alot of stuff in the past years and now were working to combine the best drugs i have had.
I realize that irreversible Maois may be superior to Moclobemide for depression, but i dont think they are for Schizo-Affective since they raise Dopamine significantly. I really have an equal mix of Depressive and psychotic symptoms here, so treatment need not exasperate one or the other. I think Moclobemide is still a good Med and superior to most reuptake inhibitors honestly.
Nardil was sure the best on depression but certainly not for Psychosis.
Hope this regain of hope sends out a more positive message than my last posts and just wanted to update.
Wish me luck! I hope to get out of this predicament.

From what I have observed, a dosage of Seroquel of 400 mg/day is often the minimum necessary to receive maximum benefit for treating psychosis, delusions, and anxiety in schizoaffective disorder.
From what I have observed, moclobemide is far less effective than the irreversible MAOIs, and significantly less effective than reuptake inhibitors. If you do not respond well to moclobemide, you may still respond to Parnate or Nardil. A great many people feel better on moclobemide early in treatment - often in the first week. However, the improvement generally does not last, despite increasing the dosage to 1200 mg/day. Of course, you might be fortunate enough to respond to moclobemide. I have to believe that there are people who do. I just don't know of any.
Because the side effect profile of moclobemide is so favorable, you might want to try it before moving on to Parnate or Nardil. However, if you get up to 900 mg/day of moclobemide and can't get an antidepressant response to "stick", I would not wait any more than two or three weeks before switching to another drug.

Hi Lamdage,
Thank you for the update. It's good to hear from you, and it's especially good to hear that you seem to be doing better than you were doing the last time you posted. I hope that all will go well for you on lithium and that you and your doctors will figure out a good plan as far as antidepressant medications are concerned. Good luck to you with everything.

Hi Phillipa, im currently in hospital. Yeah Nardil was good but they recommended no more than 45mgs for me when i had the psychosis.. and unfortunately i still have it. It still helped at 45mgs but significantly less than 90!
I was on Parnate a little while, but 20mgs (...). A joke.
Currently i am on Effexor and Seroquel. Seroquel helps me fine at 300. They wanna add Lithium on tuesday.
This pisses me off. There is no powerful antidepressant that doesnt worsen Psychosis!??
