Prazosin/haloperidol for anxiety

Posted by b2chica on June 17, 2013, at 8:37:26

i've been dealing with escalating anxiety. so finally saw pdoc last friday. he had two suggestions.
the first was to try Prazosin and the next other option was Haloperidol.

so i filled rx right away friday and gave it a go. sure made me sleep nice.
next day noticed a little glum, but took it at 11am. felt low so took a nap around 2, woke around 4;30 and kept tearing up and aggitated, i checked the med side effects and didnt mention anything like that. that night i was so hurt and frustarted with DH that i went to a place where in the past i've contemplated life...i cried much. then went home. next morning. kept tearing up and crying. pdoc txt me and i asked him about the crying and he told me i had to stop right away, rare but possible bad SE.
that day he called in haloperidol for me (very very low dose). i assume low as one can get.

i tried it yesterday. and it worked well.
i will try to test it tomorrow at work to really see how it does.
but if like preview. this Rocks!
and i'm hoping that as an AP, when fall comes and if my bad comes around again i can take this Instead of zyprexa.

sure would be nice.

but wanted to post my findings.

my pdoc said that Prazosin is starting to be used for folks with bad ptsd, or nightmares and such.

later all!
B2c.

B2Chica yes I know a neighbor's Daughter was taking the prazosin for nightmares and it did seem to help from what she said . Actually the short conversation she said night terrors. It's a blood pressure pill isn't it? Are you still at job you were at? Phillipa

yes i believe it has to do with blood pressure...

and yes here for now. i have two more weeks.
and no, no new job yet...there is something in the works. but its all a game of wait and see...and wait some more.

that's partly why my anxiety is so bad lately. yes, my pdoc knows this...
but he said even he would keep an eye out for jobs for me :)
serious or not, it was sure nice to say.

thanks.
i'll certainly post when/if i get a new job.
oh and that reminds me...i do seperate post.
