Hi Lamdage22,
I'm glad that you seemed to notice less as far as restlessness/akathisia is concerned after you took your Akineton today. Have you had a chance to talk to your doctor about the Neurontin yet? Or have you decided to hold off on asking about that for now?

Well im in Hospital during the week. Psych Wards are pretty hierarchical here in Germany. The "top doc" said he wants to try approved meds first.
On monday my favorite Dr (who took on my case) is back, so i plan to ask her.

I would think seriously about adding Lamictal and minocycline to your treatment regime.

yes, but how am i going to convince a "know it all" doctor to do that? I am thinking about lamictal, too. Hes like, yeah thats for bipolar, he says im unipolar. What the hell? Numerous Drs and Psychologists diagnosed me bipolar in the past.
Minocycline.. is that even safe long term?
Im thinking more about lamictal and neurontin.

I could buy it online without prescription, but doing things without doctor is always a pain in the b*ttocks.

Hey Scott,

Because you responded so well to Lamictal, I think you should think seriously about combining it with minocycline. The combination might work together to produce a greater degree of antiglutamatergic effect.
Minocycline:1. Is neuroprotective.
2. Reduces brain inflammation
3. Reduces the number of glutamate receptors.
4. Demonstrates antidepressant properties in mouse models of depression.
5. Is reported to act synergistically with noradrenergic antidepressants to treat depression - desipramine (but not fluoxetine).
6. Is reported to act synergistically with NMDA antagonists.
7. Reduces glutamate excitotoxicity by reducing the formation of quinolic acid, a NMDA agonist.
8. Reduces mitochondrial release of cytochrome C.
9. Modulates several signaling pathways.
10. Reduces microglial activation.
11. Has been reported anecdotally to successively treat depression.
12. Reduces the expression of lipopolysaccharide-induced pro-inflammation cytokines, an effect that acts as an antidepressant in animal models.
13. Increases neurite growth in response to nerve growth factor (NGF).
14. Inhibits high levels of PKC and GSK-3 alpha;
15. Decreases nitric oxide synthetase, thereby reducing free radicals which damage neurons and glia.
16. Reduces glutamate release.

The Geodon makes me tired, but in a different way than Zyprexa. More like a "normal" tired instead of "zombie tired".
Its day one so i hope it will work out for me.

Hi Lamdage22,
I'm sorry to hear that the akathisia-like feeling seems worse now that you're taking the Geodon with your Abilify. I would probably try to give the Geodon/Abilify combo some time so you'll get an idea as to how it's going to affect you, unless things get really bad. I hope that somehow the akathisia will eventually subside some.

I thought about taking the abilify at night perhaps..
That way i may have less of the akathisia. At night i usually feel ok.I know it has a long half life but anyway, isnt it worth a try?

Yeah, taking Abilify at night might be worth trying. As you said, I don't know if it would make a difference given the medication's long half-life, but trying Abilify at night might be worth doing.

Lamdage22,
I'm sorry to hear that you're not doing well. I hope that any changes that your doctor might make to your medication regimen will help you. Is it the akathisia from your medications that you're finding to be unbearable?

Yes, its from Abilify. Im thinking Seroquel Aurorix and low dose Lithium right now. Higher doses give me palpitations.
With Metformin which absolutely works:)

Lamdage22,
I'm sorry to hear that the akathisia has been as bad as it's been for you. I can only hope that the combo that you're considering will bring you the relief that you need without creating too many side effects, assuming that your doctor goes with what you're suggesting. I wish you the best of luck with everything.

Good luck with the Seroquel, Lamdage. Have you discussed the possibility of adding Aurorix and low-dose lithium with your doctor? If you have, what were your doctor's thoughts on adding those medications?
