Lamictal-Depression?

Posted by ChicagoKat on May 13, 2013, at 9:13:32

Hey guys,
Been away awhile, had serious problems with Klonopin withdrawal. My new pdoc is helping by letting me get off it with a slooooow taper. But re my depression he said we don't have many drugs left to try, but one he suggested is Lamictal added onto my Lexapro for augmentation, and for stabilization of my mood, which goes all over the place, even in the course of a day.

Well, Lamictal has certainly stabilized my mood, but unfortunately it has stabilized it to unrelenting suicidal depression. It's horrible. I caved, and tried taking some of my old Ritalin, and it didn't make a dent in this horrific depression one bit.

I was just curious, has anyone else experienced this, or know more about it than I do? I've got a call out to my pdoc, but he may not call back for hours, and I need to find a way to deal with this now.
Thanks,
Kat

Add naltrexone to yout treatment. This increases your neurotransmitters in a interesting way.It is not available in Turkey. If it was available,i add it to my recent treatment : effexor 300 mg, lamictal 200 mg, solian 200 mg. ultimately i get rid of my mild depression.
Try it please...

Kat if lamictal is causing this I'd stop it. Feeling that way isn't safe. What dose now? Phillipa

Hi Phillipa, currently I'm only on 25mg/day. But I have felt my depression significantly increase each day since I started it, which was last Thursday. I definitely won't be taking anymore, and since I'm still on such a low dose, it's probably OK to just stop it. But I'll ask my pdoc for sure when he calls. This is depression that is so unbearable, I've never felt it this bad before. lol, just when you think you've reached your bottom, you manage to dig deeper. Thanks.
Kat

Hi Kat-

Sorry you're feeling so crappy.

I've tried Lamictal several times, and each time, it made me horribly depressed and flat almost immediately, even at the starting dose. I would just stop taking it (you're at the starting dose so there's no need to withdraw).

Hope you feel better soon.
