Deep TMS for depression was approved by the FDA in January. Standard TMS penetrates about 1.5 cm into the brain. Deep TMS penetrates 6 or 7 cm into the brain. Its manufacturer, Brainsway, announced that it will begin US sales in the next few days.

From what I've read, Deep TMS is more effective than standard TMS. Deep TMS can directly affect the reward center of the brain, while standard TMS can only affect it indirectly.
