Moving from Provigil to Nuvigil - bad experiences?

Posted by AMD on April 7, 2013, at 22:21:53

As most of you probably know, I've been going through a bout of extreme depression, sleeping 20+ hours a day, with no motivation, no ability to concentrate, and feeling utterly hopeless.

The only thing that has changed (other than the one-night episode that triggered my depression) is that I recently changed from Provigil (200 mg) to Nuvigil (250 mg).

Provigil was a wonder drug for me, my mood significantly improved, focus better, everything.

Since Nuvigil I have done nothing but sleep and wallow in a depression.

But the drugs are supposed to be similar. I'm wondering if anyone else has had such a dramatic change in mood after switching? I believe I still have a few pills left in my old prescription which I may go pick up, but not sure it's worth it if there's really not that much difference.

nuvigil I've read is different from progivil, I take nuvigil 250mg too.....it does wake me up somedays but the checmical mix is different than Modifinil, Provigil is much more expensive. If you look on goodrx Provigil is crazy in its price, nuvigil is better, I was going to swtich to Provigil but my mom said no because the price is near like what a 1000dollers for 120pills of 200mg's.....

there's another drug you can ask about but its not used much....
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Adrafinil

its an older form of Provigil, usally for old people with low energy but it is incredibly cheap and may have benefit, but like I said some doctors haven't even heard of it. It works similar to both nuvigil and provie...long acting too....

you can add wellbutrin to nuvigil and that will give a mild psychostimulant effect for a couple hours....

Why not just ask your doc if you can change back to Provigil?
