constant tension-heart problrms

Posted by joe f on April 2, 2013, at 7:19:37

diagnosed with an artery problem--which will be taken care of by cardioloogist-yes that serious--said diabetes/genetics could play factor BUT insisted that being in a constant state of stress 24/7 is doing nothing but contributing to it or could have caused this situation...currently take viibryd 40 in to 5th week..lorazepam 1.5 sleep .5 day(usually morning)600 tegretol 150 lamictal...ocd/mood disorder. My question on any thoughts for this situation...if not getting my anxiety under control i believe i will have further problems..ans yes the ocd contributes to some of the anxiety...thanks so much

Do you have diabetes or a family member? I have the genetics also grandmother type I diabetic. I've heard thyroid disease also can accompany it. Which I have but not the diabetes. If diabetic the illness effects all body systems so arteries would or could be involved. What type of artery problem? And what's the treatment. Anytime the body seems to fail one I feel more anxious. But anxiety & ocd make things worse. But how not to worry about a physical problem? Phillipa

thanks philippa -yes i have type 2 diabetes-and my problem was 100% blockage of a major artery--2 stents put in--i'm now on for the heart--effient10 mg---quinapril 5mg, metoprolol 25 mg and aspirin 325. it was a bad 8 mos. loss of a beloved friend..and just losing a job 3 weeks ago..which we all knew was coming to our division..my dr. could not say enough though that "you have to get your Anxiety under control-its that important" i see pdoc in a few weeks if i can't impress this upon him --will need to get different dr. yes this incident scared me that much.

Good luck with the stents. Hope that will take care of the blockage. A treatment that might do your heart a lot of good is EECP (Enhanced External Counterpulsation). Even though it's a highly effective and noninvasive procedure, I think insurance only pays for it if you have angina. It improves circulation to the heart and to every other part of the body, including the brain. Many people who've had EECP report that their anxiety levels have decreased dramatically. A good EECP site:

With a docs help in paperwork and diagnosis and most likely an attorney. If you are even considering filing do it now. Takes a year or so now. Bipolar got it for my next door neighbor who isn't but got a doc to say she was. Fudged paperwork. Read it myself. Phillipa
