AAPs -Severe tight muscles/TMJ

Posted by Sheilac on March 21, 2013, at 13:30:22

I thought I had an ear infection so I went to my regular md.

Apparently, she said it was severe TMJ. I actually have painful knots under my earlobes. It's worse on the right side, but the knots are big and painful. She said to take Aleve or Ibuprofen for a week to relax those knots.

The ONLY new thing that has happened in the past freakin week is Geodon!!!

I have had some muscle stiffness, especially in my neck area but I didn't associate it with Geodon.

What is this called? It must be some weird side effect - or a common one with AAPs?

It's very painful!!

Crap! Back to Trileptal.

Not swollen glands? I think that the glands would be swollen hence the motrin? Phillipa

Might be just stress. The best thing in the world for muscle tension is Feldenkreis. It really, really works.

Could severe muscle tightness in my neck and jaw clenching and grinding be a side effect of Geodon? I thought someone mentioned dystonia? Not sure what that is?

I like Geodon, but in 7 days at 40mg I'm in terrible pain. Using heating back. Mandible joint & nerves to it are severely tight and painful causing ear pain. Maybe it's the serotonin in Geodon that causes this?

Due to the pain in my ears (from the tight jaw muscles) I thought sudaphed would help open my ears. HUGE mistake, now I'm having anxiety. Already took 4mg of Klonopin today.

I don't know how I'm going to sleep. Maybe Benadryl

My regular md said I need to take lexapro or Effexor for my depression, stress and anxiety, but I told her again, that those meds hurt my bladder. She was not happy. She thinks I need to take something for the stress/anxiety in my life. (I'm a cancer caregiver, old relative I check in on and old pet that's been great to me, not to mention husband, etc.). All very stressful circumstances.

My md was also not happy that I wasn't taking my Adderall. Told her it was great for depression, motivation, etc., but made me irritable and I already have insomnia.

The more I look at my life it's just been a cycle of anxiety/anger/depression.

I feel like a jittery mess tonight.

I'm sorry. And what you do is very very stressful and sad at the same time. Can you google the terms? And see what shows up? Phillipa

Could deffinitly be from the geodon. I took some AP in mental hospital that gave me uncontrolable swalowing. You are supposed to stop the med immediatly or it can get worse and be less likely to go away. Not sure what they call it, might be TD or EPS. Tardive disconisa or extra piramidal side effects. I got it from probably one dose of the med, it took a while for it to quiet down but had symptoms of it for years. Now 15 years latter it appears to be gone. Proabably died off about 5-10 years ago.

STOP the geodon. Thats my suggestion.
