sorry, that might be a weird question, since obviously it varies from person-to-person, but i picked up a script from my GP without any specific instructions ..
i had two days where i had to be up early, and only 2mg would reliably knock me out, which i know is way too much, since i felt drunk/dazed the next day ..
i tried 1mg at night, and then 0.5mg during the day today, but the daytime dose put me to sleep.
what would be the best dose to start on if i want full daytime coverage for anxiety? i can get a little impulsive with pill-popping (esp. benzos/stims), so having a schedule to stick to would probably be best.
sleep isn't great atm, but i have no commitments, so don't really need a dose that will knock me out .. just relax me before bed i suppose.

I take .5mg klonopin at 9pm every night. No daytime dose. I was diagnosed with gad and panic, and it works for me all day. However, my pdoc considers that a small dose. I believe most of her pts on k take .5mg twice a day, that was the dose she initially prescribed for me. She said I could take .25mg in the morning if I needed to and not feel drowsy, but I dont take it.

It was awhile ago but I think I started at 0.5 mg in the morning and 1.0 in the evening. Ended up at 1.0 morning and evening. It takes a week or more for it to build up in your system. It also loses its sedating effects. So after awhile it was just something I was taking twice a day with no obvious effects, it just protected me from bad social anxiety around the clock. Unlike something short-acting like xanax, I could never feel it "wear off" and never craved it, I had to remember to take it.

Thats a good pt, the sedation will wear off, and you dont really feel it coming or going,it just works. I like the mellowness of it. I was also diagnosed with depression, and havent had drop of it since I began klonopin.

People are so different and first time on it caused depression so off it. I must admit that at one time a babbler sent me some and it no longer effected me this way. I didn't take it for long. But it seems to work beautifully for you. P

yes, good med for me, but if you wish to taper, very difficult, for me anyway. But maybe thats because my brain seems to do so well with it.

Sorry for the nm, that was unintentional. Clicked the wrong box.

It worked well for me for a decade until a few years ago. I recognize the symptoms now, as I taper off it, every time I reduce the dose, the symptoms are similar to what I started experiencing at night a few years ago. At this point I am convinced it was because a few years ago I started drinking craft beer every day, and developed a cross tolerance, so what I experienced was actually tolerance withdrawals.
With what I know now, I could probably go back on it, if I gave up drinking. But my job duties are different and much less social so I am hoping I can get along without it (and continue to enjoy my beers).

I used to enjoy a nightly beer or wine, but when I started klonopin, I felt strange if I drank even a few sips.So I reluctantly gave it all up,only take a sip if Im on vacation, or a celebration of some sort. I believe that any psych meds dont work as well if you drink alcohol, and I havent missed it.

Clonazepam has a long half life. 1 mg a day should be enough for you.

The starting dose is the lowest dose that does not cause any problems. It will be different, sometimes a lot different, from one person to the next.

0.5mg of Clonazepam is = to 5-10mg diazepam, depending on which reference you read
Given your sensetivity, try 0.5mg at bedtime and 0.25mg during the day and increase from there if you need to
