Lexapro Increase sucks

Posted by Baseball85 on February 14, 2013, at 10:07:32

Doc upped me to 10mg after I had been splitting the dose for 3 months. He then upped me to 15mg a week later. It has been 3 weeks on a full 10 and 2 weeks on 15mg. I thought I was
Out of the woods as far as side effects go but then the anxiety and nausea hit me like a ton of bricks two days ago. Man the start up side effects suck! Can someone reassure me it gets better ;-)

I read that lexapro takes a week to build up to a steady state. So you should be out of the woods with the med. Any change you have a medical virus causing the stomach issure? Phillipa

Split the dose, 5mg in the morning, 10mg at night

Meclizine (Bonnine) will help the nausea for a new days

Sorry, I cannot reassure you it gets better. I happen to be in the camp that believes pure ssris all by themselves are bad news, they make things worse either sooner or later, despite the brief help they may or may not provide.
Adding a norepinephrine component to the low dose 5mg lex would have been a far smarter approach I think. Something like nortriptyline, desipramine, or savella. But most psychiatrists, nearly all actually, do not think that way. They are all pretty much boxed in with industry consensus and pharmaceutic reps. Industry consensus is....increase the dose! I happen to disagree.

It never got better for me, which is how I ended up at 5mg as my regular dose, I just couldn't tolerate the side effects of the higher doses. And really 5mg was enough to help with the depression anyway, I had to add a benzo for anxiety. herpills
