Hey,
What strategies help to alleviate Effexor side effects?
At a low dose, of 50 mgs of Effexor (non-XR), I developed side effects of trouble concentrating, low motivation, low energy, and poor memory.
I am trying again with Effexor, and willing to try new things to get the most out of this.
Are the following strategies reasonable possibilities?
- Taking a higher dose (do side effects maybe improve at a higher dose)?
- Switching to XR
- Adding another med (if so which?)

I gave those up as they tended to cause depressive thoughts.

increase maybe 150-300mg....it will start working on NE norephenphrine...it should increase some energy. If not ... B6 and B12 in moderate doses with caffeine coffee...anything that has it
Ask your doctor about low dose stimulant if needed

Seems like every med I take is much better and much more expensive in the XR version.

Luckily my pharmacy rates them the same, there is generic XR for $25-$35/mo at lower doses

1. Try the higher dose
if that doesnt work, try either
Sertaline + Nortriptyline
or
Sertaline + Bupropion
