Lately it seems quite a few posters and others have gone inpatient lately. Are there fewer pdocs all over? I thought the hospitals had stricter criteria for admissions medical included. And with this years flu season aren't there a lack of beds at this time? Just curious what others feel Phillipa

It does seem more are going inpt. lately...and makes the forum seem lonelier somehow. :( Hopefully everyone who does go inpt will find the help they need

How right you are, Phillipa!!!! I was dreading it, having been committed, but my third inpt experience changed my life for the positive. One, I got the idea of Tegretol to help control anxiety (since benzos are out for me) and to act as a mood stabilizer....the pdoc I had inpt said that more and more pdocs are looking at pts like me who alternate between depression and anxiety with a feeling of a switch going off in their brain as being on the bipolar spectrum. Which I've always wondered about. Too bad, though, I don't get a switch to hypomania. Hypomania is delightful :)
And two, I met a girl my exact same age who had so much in common with me it is almost eerie. We are now good friends.
So going inpt CAN be a very positive thing!!! :)
